Caring for cotton and linen:
Wash in cold/warm water using a mild detergent on a delicate cycle. Launder any stains when fresh. If allowed to set, stains may be impossible to remove later.
Avoid bleaching – chlorine bleaches can cause yellowing. Drying in the sun helps retain whiteness.
Especially for linen: Rinse completely to remove all soap and detergent. This will help to avoid the formation of 'age spots' caused by oxidation of cellulose (the main component of linen).
Following wash cycle, remove promptly and either line dry, or tumble dry on low till slightly damp. Never tumble dry hot – this damages the fibres, especially with linen.
Wrinkles in linen are a natural feature. Iron when damp. If you prefer not to, the fibres will relax some when the item is worn.
